Rubio Urges Russia to Reveal Lab Worker Death | JQJO

Secretary of State Marco Rubio called on Moscow to disclose details about the death of a twenty‑eight‑year‑old laboratory technician at a remote Siberian institute dedicated to studying plague. Rubio said the U.S. demands transparency after the worker died of pneumonia of "unknown" origin, raising concerns about biosafety protocols.

The incident follows a series of incidents involving Russian research facilities, prompting heightened scrutiny from U.S. intelligence. Rubio’s remarks come amid broader diplomatic efforts to address potential bio‑security threats and to strengthen international cooperation on disease surveillance.

The U.S. government has reiterated its commitment to global health security, urging Russia to cooperate fully with investigations. The incident underscores the importance of open communication between nations when dealing with sensitive scientific research. Rubio’s statement signals a firm stance on accountability and the need for transparent scientific practices worldwide.
