Shay Whitcomb delivered a game-winning single with one out in the eleventh inning, lifting the San Francisco Giants to a 5-4 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals at Oracle Park. The decisive moment arrived after Drew Cavanaugh advanced automatic runner Nate Furman to third base via a sacrifice bunt, setting up Whitcomb for his first career game-ending RBI. San Francisco starting pitcher Logan Webb threw six strong innings, allowing one run and three hits while striking out eight batters. The Cardinals stayed competitive through Alec Burleson, who hit his 22nd home run of the season into McCovey Cove during the sixth inning.
