An Amazon Prime Air cargo plane overran a runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday afternoon, striking multiple vehicles and erupting into flames. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the aircraft arrived from San Juan, Puerto Rico, before barreling past the pavement boundaries at approximately 2 p.m. local time and coming to rest on its belly near a perimeter roadway. The incident sent thick black smoke billowing across the airfield and forced an immediate ground stop, shutting down all arrivals and departures at one of the nation's busiest cargo hubs. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue deployed roughly sixty units to combat the active blaze, while officials noted that immediate injury figures remained unconfirmed due to the active emergency response. The FAA warned that extensive flight delays and reduced arrival rates would persist even after the airfield restrictions are lifted.
