American Olympic 100-meter champion Noah Lyles has ended his 2026 track season due to a recurring injury strain, withdrawing from the upcoming World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest. The eight-time world champion announced the decision via an Instagram video, explaining that a minor strain sustained during the United States championships in July triggered subsequent physical flare-ups. Lyles noted that these complications made consistent training impossible, prompting him and his coaching staff to shut down his competitive campaign early. Despite the withdrawal, the 29-year-old sprinter intends to attend the September 11 to 13 season-ending showcase in a non-competing capacity.
