Kremlin-Washington Talks Conclude Following High-Level Meeting on Ukraine War

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with American special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner inside the Kremlin during a three hour session. The diplomatic discussions focused entirely on reviving stalled peace negotiations to conclude the ongoing armed conflict in Ukraine. Kremlin advisor Yuri Ushakov described the talks as constructive and noted the American delegation introduced multiple ideas for a potential settlement. Putin stated the situation remains complex while acknowledging ongoing American diplomatic efforts to achieve a resolution. Following the visit, Russia announced a temporary seventy two hour halt to military strikes on Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukraine would similarly refrain from targeting Moscow through Monday. Despite these temporary measures, deep political divisions persist regarding territorial control and regional security arrangements. Moscow maintains its core objectives remain unchanged while Kyiv firmly rejects demands for territorial concessions. Both sides continue active military operations outside designated pause zones amidst hostilities.
