Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s Mother Slams Widow’s Claims in Estate Battle

Pamela Warner, mother of the late actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner, has formally contested a $1.2 million lawsuit filed by her daughter-in-law, Tenisha Warner, regarding the distribution of the actor's estate. Malcolm-Jamal Warner tragically died at age 54 following a drowning accident in Costa Rica on July 20, 2025. In July 2026, Tenisha filed legal claims alleging her late husband failed to fulfill financial obligations outlined in their May 2022 premarital agreement, including an unfulfilled $1 million life insurance policy and unpaid monthly compensation. In newly surfaced court documents, Pamela dismissed the claims as unwarranted, stating she previously attempted private negotiations to allocate the majority of the trust and estate assets to the actor's nine-year-old daughter, MacKenzie Warner. Pamela announced she has reached a separate tentative settlement with the child's court-appointed guardian, which includes a $550,000 college fund and provisions for surviving family members. Pamela has asked the Los Angeles County Superior Court to approve this settlement and dismiss Tenisha's separate lawsuit.
