Lea Salonga Makes History As First Filipina Awarded Star On Hollywood Walk of Fame

Tony Award-winning actress and singer Lea Salonga has become the first Filipina to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The milestone dedication ceremony took place in front of the historic Pantages Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, honoring her four-decade career across musical theater and voice acting. Salonga was awarded the 2,855th star on the iconic walkway in the live performance category. Fellow entertainment figures, including Ming-Na Wen, Brandy, and Darren Criss, attended the event to deliver tributes celebrating her achievements. Salonga first gained international acclaim by originating the role of Kim in Miss Saigon, earning both a Laurence Olivier Award and a Tony Award. She is also widely recognized globally as the singing voice of Disney princesses Jasmine in Aladdin and Mulan in Mulan, earning her official recognition as a Disney Legend. Following the ceremony, she is slated to receive the Icon Award at the Manila International Film Festival's closing gala.
