Ford to recall about 149,000 vehicles in US over power loss, NHTSA says

PUBLISHED Sep 1, 2026, 4:20 AM ET

Ford Motor is recalling 148,663 Mustang vehicles across the United States from the 2024 through 2026 model years due to a potential loss of driver power and electrical component failures. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that faulty engine compartment wiring harness ground connections can disrupt drive power and disable headlights, windshield washers, air conditioning, and cooling fans. This electrical failure significantly increases the risk of a motor vehicle crash and reduced forward visibility for drivers. Authorized dealers will replace the affected wiring harness ground terminals at no cost to vehicle owners. This safety action follows a separate vehicle recall initiated by the manufacturer in June concerning daytime running lamps that failed to dim correctly. Federal regulators continue monitoring safety compliance as notification letters are prepared for registered owners across the country to schedule necessary dealership service appointments.
