LIV Golf may file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as early as the week of September 7, according to reports citing sources familiar with the negotiations. The Financial Times reported Monday that the Saudi-backed golf circuit is experiencing a drawdown in financial backing from its primary financial architect, the Public Investment Fund. League executives are actively negotiating a potential rescue package with private capital firms to restructure operations into a scaled-back, ten-tournament model for the upcoming 2027 season. The circuit has previously faced operational cutbacks, including staff reductions and vendor payment disputes. Current players owed long-term guaranteed payouts have reportedly received reduced settlement offers as organizers seek debtor-in-possession financing under one hundred million dollars. Reuters could not immediately verify the report, and official statements from league representatives have not yet addressed the specific bankruptcy negotiations.
