Tony Romo, facing new citations, 'accepts full responsibility'

Tony Romo received three new citations Thursday tied to his July 23 arrest in Milwaukee on suspicion of operating while intoxicated, while his representative said Romo accepts full responsibility. Court records cited by Milwaukee-area reporting show allegations of first-offense OWI, unsafe passing on the right and possessing open intoxicants in a motor vehicle. Romo had previously been cited for refusing an intoxication test after the arrest. Milwaukee County sheriff’s records say he performed poorly on field sobriety tests before being booked and released. CBS Sports placed Romo on leave until further notice on July 31. CBS Sports president David Berson said Aug. 11 that the network had no timetable for deciding Romo’s future. J.J. Watt has replaced him alongside Jim Nantz on CBS’s lead NFL team. Romo’s representative said he is working with authorities and communicating with CBS about next steps. He is scheduled to appear in court September 21.
