Vietnamese leaders urged technology giants Qualcomm and Samsung Electronics to expand their investments in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and research and development during high-level meetings in Hanoi. Communist Party General Secretary and President To Lam met with Qualcomm Chief Executive Cristiano Amon, discussing enhanced cooperation in robotics, 5G, and data centers as Vietnam aims to become a regional innovation hub. Amon stated that Qualcomm intends to develop its presence in Hanoi into its third-largest artificial intelligence research and development hub globally. Concurrently, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung met with Samsung Electronics CEO Roh Tae-moon, praising the company's historical manufacturing footprint and cumulative investments totaling twenty-four billion dollars. Roh confirmed that Samsung plans further investments and training initiatives to integrate local suppliers deeper into global value chains. Both engagements underscore Hanoi's strategic economic shift toward a growth model driven by science, advanced technology, and digital transformation.
