Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates indicate COVID-19 infections are growing or likely growing across 47 states, with wastewater surveillance in Texas showing rising SARS-CoV-2 levels. Public health experts attribute the uptick to seasonal patterns rather than pandemic-level surges. While individual infections remain milder, simultaneous illnesses among school communities cause staffing shortages, leading to temporary operational disruptions.
