Texans Acquire WR Kayshon Boutte in Trade With Patriots

The Houston Texans acquired wide receiver Kayshon Boutte from the New England Patriots in exchange for safety Jaylen Reed and a 2028 draft pick today. Boutte confirmed the transaction on social media before an official franchise announcement. The roster move comes in response to an injury sustained by Texans backup receiver Jayden Higgins, who suffered a torn ligament during a joint practice session with the Las Vegas Raiders. Higgins was expected to start alongside star wide receiver Nico Collins this upcoming season. Boutte, selected by New England in the sixth round of the 2023 draft, registered thirty three receptions for five hundred yards and six touchdowns last year. The Patriots faced a crowded receiver room following major offseason acquisitions. Alongside Boutte, Houston added veteran free agents Zay Jones and Sterling Shepard to reinforce depth. Both teams finalized the paperwork ahead of the league roster reduction deadline this afternoon in Boston.
