Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty Avoids Major Injury, Suffers Ankle Sprain After Scary Practice Scene

PUBLISHED Aug 24, 2026, 8:15 AM ET

Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty is believed to have suffered an ankle sprain during Sunday’s practice in Henderson, Nevada, easing fears of a serious injury, ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported. Jeanty went down while diving for a pass from quarterback Kirk Cousins during an 11-on-11 period and was unable to put weight on his leg as trainers helped him from the field. Raiders players subsequently knelt and prayed, reports said. The team had not confirmed the diagnosis or provided a timetable Monday. Jeanty, the No. 6 pick in the 2025 draft, rushed for 975 yards and five touchdowns while adding 346 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns. He had three carries for 16 yards against Arizona and sat out against Houston. Rookie Mike Washington Jr. could receive work if Jeanty misses time. Las Vegas hosts San Francisco Thursday before opening against Miami Sept. 13.
