U.S. Active ETF Assets Surge to Record $2.59 Trillion Amid Massive Retail Inflows

PUBLISHED Aug 23, 2026, 10:21 PM ET

Global assets in actively managed funds reached a record 2.59 trillion dollars at the end of July according to research firm ETFGI. Driven by strong retail participation and institutional capital rotation net inflows reached 590.46 billion dollars year to date. United States listed active funds captured the vast majority of investor capital as market participants rotated away from traditional mutual funds in search of daily liquidity and tactical management strategies. The benchmark stock index slipped slightly in July but maintained strong gains for the year supporting continuous deployment into equity vehicles. Dimensional Fund Advisors and JPMorgan Chase ranked as the largest active fund providers globally each managing approximately 309 billion dollars in assets. JPMorgan led all competitors by attracting 52.5 billion dollars in net new inflows over the first seven months closely matched by BlackRock division. This expansion highlights a massive structural shift toward active management wrappers across markets today.
