The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has imposed severe suspensions and substantial fines following an on-field altercation after the World Cup final at MetLife Stadium. Spain secured a one-to-zero victory over Argentina in extra time before a physical confrontation erupted between players. Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes received a ten-match international suspension and a ninety-thousand-dollar fine for grabbing an opponent by the throat. Defender Nahuel Molina earned a seven-match ban and a ninety-thousand-dollar fine for punching an opponent. Additional suspensions and fines were issued to players and staff from both teams, including Argentina assistant coach Roberto Ayala and Spain midfielder Gavi. Furthermore, the Argentinian Football Association was fined three hundred twenty-one thousand dollars for misconduct, discriminatory chants, and displaying a political banner regarding the Falkland Islands. The association also faces a fifty percent stadium capacity restriction on its next two home matches and intends to appeal the committee's rulings.
