Ray Dalio has renewed his warning that the United States could face a debt crisis within about three years, plus or minus two years, if fiscal policies remain unchanged. In a Friday LinkedIn post, the Bridgewater Associates founder said the government is projected to collect about $5.5 trillion and spend roughly $7.5 trillion this year, producing a gap near $2 trillion. He said interest costs are about $1 trillion and roughly $10 trillion of debt needs refinancing. Dalio urged investors to underweight bonds, hold 10% to 15% of portfolios in gold and keep a small amount of Bitcoin. His warning comes as Treasury yields remain elevated and U.S. gross federal debt has surpassed $40 trillion. CBO projections independently show $5.6 trillion of 2026 revenue, $7.4 trillion of outlays and a $1.9 trillion deficit. The $32 trillion figure in the supplied summary refers approximately to publicly held debt, not total national debt.
