A sudden cryptocurrency flash crash on Saturday triggered five hundred twenty-three million dollars in leveraged position liquidations within one hour. Market tracking platform Coinglass confirmed the rapid downturn forced automated liquidations across digital asset derivatives exchanges, heavily impacting bullish investors. Long positions accounted for four hundred forty-eight million dollars of the single-hour losses, while short positions saw seventy-four million dollars liquidated. The downward movement expanded a broader twenty-four-hour rout across the digital asset ecosystem, pushing total liquidations to one point eight billion dollars. Official network metrics showed more than two hundred eighty-six thousand traders experienced account liquidations during the timeframe. Decentralized platform Hyperliquid recorded the largest single liquidation event with a twenty-four million dollar Bitcoin position wipeout. The abrupt crash followed a volatile week driven by a United States Treasury announcement regarding federal bond repurchases, which had temporarily pushed long-term yields down and sent Bitcoin toward eighty thousand dollars before reversing sharply.
