The lightning-caused Shoshone Fire in Churchill County, Nevada, has grown to 17,226 acres with 36% containment as of early August 21, according to an interagency incident data feed . The fire started August 15 in the Clan Alpine Mountains, roughly 58 miles northeast of Fallon . Crews are battling the blaze in steep, rugged terrain with dry vegetation, with personnel assigned to the incident increasing from 179 to 217 . Firefighters are using indirect containment strategies where direct attack is too dangerous . The fire remains under a full suppression strategy . No major evacuations or immediate threats to ranches or the Fallon Range Training Complex have been reported . Hot, dry weather with low humidity continues to challenge containment efforts . The figure of 17,226 acres supersedes the previous official count of 15,008 acres at 32% containment from August 20 .
