Conor Kennedy Wanted By Russia

PUBLISHED Aug 21, 2026, 12:23 AM ET

Russian authorities have placed Conor Kennedy on an international wanted list after a Moscow court authorized his arrest in absentia over his past service with Ukrainian forces. The 32-year-old American citizen, who is the son of U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., faces accusations of acting as a mercenary under Russian criminal statutes. The legal action stems from 2022, when Kennedy secretly traveled to Ukraine following the full-scale Russian invasion, enlisted in the International Legion without prior military experience, and spent approximately two and a half months deployed in the Kharkiv region before returning home to the United States. While Russian state media reports indicate the charge carries a potential seven to ten-year prison sentence if he is apprehended, the warrant remains symbolic as Kennedy resides domestically. Legal representation for Kennedy attempted to appeal the ruling through the Moscow City Court, but the challenge proved unsuccessful.
