MLB acknowledged Wednesday that a replay review incorrectly overturned a potential go-ahead home run for Pete Alonso during the Baltimore Orioles' 5-3 loss to the New York Yankees at Camden Yards. With the game tied 3-3 in the seventh inning, Alonso's fly ball down the left-field line was ruled foul, and the call stood after video review. The Baltimore Banner reported MLB later conceded the call was wrong. Alonso struck out, and the Yankees scored two runs in the eighth to secure the win. Orioles manager Craig Albernaz questioned why Hawk-Eye ball-tracking data available on dugout iPads could not be used for the review. The loss dropped Baltimore to 61-66, 1.5 games back in the AL wild-card race. Alonso hit his 30th homer earlier in the game.
