Guard James Harden agreed to a new contract to remain with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday afternoon. The agreement spans three years and is valued at ninety seven million dollars according to league reports. This deal includes a player option for the final season and an automatic trade kicker clause. Harden previously declined a forty two point three million dollar player option to assist the franchise with roster flexibility under the tax apron. The new multi year commitment elevates his career earnings past five hundred million dollars. He joins an exclusive group of players in league history achieving this major financial milestone. At thirty seven years of age, Harden and LeBron James are the only athletes signing massive guaranteed salaries at that advanced stage. Harden arrived in Cleveland through a February trade from Los Angeles. He guided the team to the Eastern Conference finals during his initial club campaign successfully.
