Los Angeles Angels left-hander Reid Detmers pitched eight scoreless innings, striking out eleven batters and allowing only two hits without issuing a walk to secure a 1-0 victory over the Kansas City Royals at Angel Stadium. The performance marked Detmers' first home win of the season and snapped a nine-start winless skid. The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the eighth inning when Nolan Schanuel drove in pinch-runner Jose Siri with an RBI single.
