Coco 2' First Look: Miguel Becomes a Teenager in Pixar Sequel Set for November 2029
Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios revealed the first look at "Coco 2" during the D23 fan event, confirming a theatrical release for November 2029. The upcoming sequel features a teenage Miguel and his loyal dog Dante returning to the Land of the Dead. Original director Lee Unkrich is returning to direct alongside Adrian Molina, with Mark Nielsen attached to produce. Actor Benjamin Bratt confirmed he will reprise his role as the antagonist Ernesto de la Cruz, who is slated to return seeking revenge against Miguel. The original 2017 film earned $823 million worldwide and won two Academy Awards, for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song. Disney initially announced the development of the sequel in March 2025. The core creative team behind the original film is returning, including the songwriting team to compose new tracks. No further plot details have been disclosed by the studio.
