The Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, has issued a royal decree stripping his daughter-in-law, Pengiran Raabi'atul Adawiyyah, of all her royal titles. Announced by the Office of the Grand Chamberlain, the disciplinary action applies to the 33-year-old wife of Prince Abdul Malik, who stands fourth in line to the throne. Palace officials stated that the revocation stems from conduct deemed unbecoming of a royal family spouse, which allegedly tarnished the monarchy's reputation and showed disrespect toward the sovereign. The couple was married in a lavish ten-day ceremony in April 2015 and shares four children. Authorities confirmed that the titles belonging to their children remain completely unaffected by the decree. Neither Prince Abdul Malik nor Pengiran Raabi'atul Adawiyyah has filed for or announced any impending divorce proceedings, leaving the precise nature of the underlying infractions undisclosed by the absolute monarchy.
