Amazon confirmed financial backing for a private natural gas power plant located in Pecos County, Texas, to supply electricity to an artificial intelligence data center campus. Market intelligence firm Cleanview identified the project through satellite imagery and newly filed construction permits. Developed by Pacifico Energy, the facility features thirty five turbines generating seven point sixty five gigawatts of power. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality authorized annual carbon dioxide emissions reaching thirty three million metric tons. This output exceeds emissions from any single power source currently operating in the nation. Operating entirely off grid, the campus bypasses shared public electricity networks and utility bottlenecks. Project plans also include solar capacity and battery storage utilizing non potable groundwater. Environmental groups expressed concern over air quality consequences and corporate climate targets. Construction has commenced, with initial power delivery scheduled for the first quarter of next year to support growing computational infrastructure demands.
