In New York, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" dominated the theatrical box office with $144.5 million domestically in its second weekend, bringing its 10-day global total to $1.67 billion. Sony Pictures reported $655.1 million in North American ticket sales and over $1 billion overseas, making it the fastest film of the year to reach the top spot. Meanwhile, Universal Pictures' "The Odyssey," directed by Christopher Nolan, crossed $1.1 billion globally after grossing $31.5 million domestically in its fourth weekend frame. The epic surpassed $147.3 million on domestic IMAX screens, setting an all-time record for the format. Driven by both blockbuster releases, overall ticket sales are running 18.5% ahead of last year, pushing total domestic summer revenue toward the $4 billion mark. Mid-budget counterprogramming struggled, as Universal’s comedy "One Night Only" debuted to $5.7 million and Fox Searchlight’s "Super Troopers 3" opened in fourth place with $4 million, according to studio estimates.
