The Philadelphia Phillies acquired second baseman Luis Arraez from the San Francisco Giants in a trade on August 3, 2026. The agreement was reported on Major League Baseball’s official trade deadline day. Arraez, 29, was named an All-Star during the 2026 Major League Baseball season. In 105 games with the San Francisco Giants prior to the deal, Arraez posted a .324 batting average, hitting four home runs and recording 43 runs batted in. The left-handed infielder is playing on a one-year, $12 million contract signed for the 2026 campaign. Arraez is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent following the conclusion of the 2026 Major League Baseball season. He won the American League batting title in 2022 while playing for the Minnesota Twins. Arraez also won Silver Slugger awards in 2022 and 2023. Originally signed as an international free agent by the Minnesota Twins in 2013, Arraez made his Major League debut with Minnesota before stints with the Miami Marlins, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, and Philadelphia Phillies. The trade occurred ahead of Major League Baseball’s 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time trade deadline on August 3, 2026. The transaction adds a four-time All-Star infielder to the Philadelphia Phillies roster as teams finalize transactions for the remainder of the 2026 regular season.
