Former New York Rangers center Ron Duguay has been hospitalized in New York after losing consciousness at home late last week amid an ongoing battle with Stage 4 liver cancer, his daughter Shay Thomas said Monday on Instagram. Thomas wrote that Duguay fainted due to extreme dehydration, fell, injured his face and lost several teeth before being taken to the hospital by ambulance. Doctors later identified varices, portal hypertensive gastropathy, internal bleeding and an ulcer linked to pressure building in his liver following surgery, chemotherapy and a pump. Duguay remains hospitalized, receiving blood transfusions while physicians closely monitor his condition.
