BLAINE, Minn. — Jackson Koivun won the 3M Open by three strokes on Sunday, capturing his first PGA Tour title in only his third professional start with a tournament-record 25-under 259. The 21-year-old, who led Auburn to the NCAA championship last month, followed a third-round 61 with a composed, bogey-free final-round 5-under 66 in 97-degree heat at TPC Twin Cities. His performance broke the previous tournament scoring record of 24-under 260 set by Lee Hodges in 2023 and marked a second consecutive bogey-free round as he protected the three-shot advantage he built on Saturday. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, playing five groups ahead of Koivun, applied pressure with a 63 to finish alone in second, his fourth runner-up result of the season after opening the year with a win at The American Express in California. Hideki Matsuyama, Brian Harman, Chandler Phillips and Denny McCarthy tied for third at 20 under. Koivun, the fourth rookie winner on tour this season, had missed the cut at the John Deere Classic and tied for 10th at the ISCO Championship earlier this month after 10 previous starts as an amateur. The victory earned him $1,584,000 and vaulted him 124 places to 70th in the FedEx Cup standings, currently the final spot above the playoff cutoff with two regular-season events remaining.
