Chicago union disputes role in WNBA patch decision

The Women’s National Basketball Players Association said it did not ask the WNBA to drop planned USA 250 patches from All-Star Game uniforms, contradicting suggestions the union formally opposed the move. In a statement to OutKick and Fox News Digital, the WNBPA said player leaders only contacted the league after a report that patches would be used in Saturday’s All-Star Game in Chicago. According to the union, the WNBA indicated no final decision had been made, then later chose to recognize the United States’ 250th anniversary through arena signage and veteran tributes instead. The league has not publicly explained its reasoning.
