United States chipmaker Qualcomm announces double-digit price hikes

United States–based smartphone chipmaker Qualcomm has notified customers that it will impose double‑digit price increases on its products, citing accelerating supplier and supply chain costs. In a formal letter circulated to clients, the company said the higher prices will apply to all products shipped from September 1. Qualcomm explained it can no longer absorb rising expenses and has sought alternative components from new suppliers. The move comes amid severe structural pressure in the global smartphone market and a widespread memory chip shortage, partly linked to investment shifts toward artificial intelligence infrastructure. Qualcomm declined public comment. The announcement precedes its third‑quarter earnings release on July 29.
