Seoul LG Twins sign pitcher Carrasco, release Rios | JQJO

SEOUL, South Korea – The LG Twins of the Korea Baseball Organization have signed veteran right-hander Carlos Carrasco for the remainder of the 2026 season, according to Yonhap News Agency. Carrasco, represented by ACES, will receive a guaranteed $360,000 as he moves to the KBO and joins the pitching staff of the reigning 2025 league champions, who currently sit in third place in the standings. The contract covers only the balance of the ongoing season, reflecting a midyear acquisition rather than a multi-season commitment. The agreement sends the longtime Major League pitcher overseas to continue his professional career in a new league and market.

SEOUL, South Korea – To create a roster opening for Carrasco, the LG Twins released right-handed reliever Yacksel Rios earlier this week. Rios, also a former Major League player, had occupied the foreign-player bullpen spot that Carrasco now effectively replaces. The change aligns with KBO roster rules that limit the number of foreign players and requires corresponding moves when a team adds a new international signing. By installing Carrasco in place of Rios, LG adjusts its mix of imported talent and signals an emphasis on reinforcing its starting pitching options during the 2026 campaign.
