CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida – A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, launched a privately operated satellite-servicing mission from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, marking a significant step for commercial on‑orbit maintenance. The rocket lifted off from Space Launch Complex 40 at 5:15 p.m. EDT and ascended through partly cloudy summer skies over Florida’s Space Coast, carrying Northrop Grumman’s Mission Robotic Vehicle, or MRV, along with three Mission Extension Pods. The spacecraft achieved its targeted geostationary transfer orbit, and mission controllers confirmed successful payload deployment about 35 minutes after liftoff. The MRV is a minivan‑sized, 3,000‑kilogram robotic spacecraft designed to service aging but operational communications satellites that have exhausted their onboard fuel.
