Actor William Shatner, 95, and his youngest daughter, Melanie Shatner Gretsch, 61, have disclosed that they underwent overlapping battles with separate stage 4 cancers beginning in mid-2022. Melanie was diagnosed in July 2022 with HER2-positive breast cancer that had spread to lymph nodes in her chest, requiring chemotherapy, 30 radiation sessions, and a double mastectomy over 18 months. In June 2023, Shatner was diagnosed with stage 4 malignant melanoma that had metastasized to his lungs and brain, treated with surgery and a two-year immunotherapy regimen. Physicians declared both cancer-free in late 2024. They plan a health-focused podcast launch on July 29, 2026.
