Novo Nordisk has filed a federal lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey accusing Eli Lilly of running deceptive nationwide advertising campaigns for its obesity and diabetes drugs Zepbound and Mounjaro. The complaint, lodged on Tuesday, alleges violations of federal and state false advertising and unfair competition laws, including the Lanham Act. Novo Nordisk claims Lilly used outdated clinical trial data to suggest Zepbound patients lost an average of 50 pounds versus 33 pounds on Novo’s Wegovy, while allegedly comparing a higher Zepbound dose to an older, lower Wegovy dose and omitting newer Wegovy formulations now available.
