Abbott Laboratories, the U.S.-based healthcare company, said on Monday, July 20, 2026, that it is investigating claims of a major cyberattack and data theft involving legacy systems tied to its cancer diagnostics operations. The affected systems are linked to the former Exact Sciences business, acquired in late 2025, and Abbott’s LabCentral portal. Abbott stated the compromised legacy environment is isolated from its main corporate network and that core operations, manufacturing, product availability, and laboratory services remain unaffected. A threat group known as ShinyHunters claims to have stolen about 30 million rows of customer data, including roughly one million Social Security numbers.
