An eight-member AP Pro Football Writers panel ranked players based on current status and projected performance, using a weighted points system. Garrett earned all eight first-place votes for a perfect score of 80 points. Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons finished second with 27 points and appeared on every ballot. Garrett, 30, joined the Rams on June 1, 2026, in a multi-pick deal centered on outside linebacker Jared Verse.
