Ashe County man charged with allegedly sharing private images of a woman online

ASHE COUNTY, N.C. — An Ashe County man has been arrested and charged after authorities said he posted private images of a woman on social media. The Ashe County Sheriff’s Office said a resident contacted a Special Victims detective in June to report that 57-year-old Joseph Patrick O’Conner allegedly uploaded three images of a partially unclothed woman to Facebook. Investigators said the images were posted with the apparent intent to harass and humiliate the woman, prompting a criminal investigation by the Special Victims unit. According to the sheriff’s office, detectives reviewed the initial complaint and then examined O’Conner’s alleged online activity as part of their inquiry. During the investigation, authorities said they located additional photographs beyond the three images first reported, which were considered relevant to the case. O’Conner has been formally charged in connection with the alleged online posting of the images, and the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains active as they continue to review evidence and determine whether any further action is warranted.
