RUSKIN, Fla. -- Two Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies were shot Thursday in Ruskin, Florida, and airlifted by medical helicopter to Tampa General Hospital, authorities said. The shooting occurred on West Shell Point Road, south of Tampa, where law enforcement officers responded and remained at the scene as the situation unfolded. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said both deputies were medevaced to the hospital for treatment after being struck by gunfire. The suspect was also shot during the incident and is being transported to a hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.
