Tap title to read story
Mission, Texas. Governor Greg Abbott on Tuesday directed the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to immediately investigate Mission Regional Medical Center after media and social media posts showed billboards in Mexico advertising 'birth packages' for foreign nationals seeking to give birth in Texas, and after reports that the hospital confirmed it paid for those advertisements.
The commission was asked to determine whether the hospital violated state law or contractual obligations and to refer any findings to the attorney general for potential civil or criminal action; officials said the review could lead to administrative sanctions and regulators began assessing evidence and timelines this week.
