San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk used his Instagram story to demand an immediate release from the team and criticize the NFL Players Association over a contractual dispute. In the posts, Aiyuk denied reports that he skipped offseason rehabilitation, saying he completed rehab independently rather than at the team facility. League insiders say tensions escalated after the 49ers voided his 2026 contract guarantees, citing repeated absences from mandatory team activities and meetings while recovering from a serious right knee injury. The team may also attempt to recoup part of Aiyuk’s $23 million signing bonus, which he says the NFLPA failed to safeguard.
