CORDOBA, Argentina, July 2 (Reuters) - Scotland coach Gregor Townsend has named his team to face Argentina in Cordoba on Saturday in the opening Nations Championship fixture, with prop Pierre Schoeman and lock Scott Cummings set to win their 50th caps. Schoeman, who debuted against Tonga in 2021, starts in the front row alongside hooker Ewan Ashman and tighthead prop Elliot Millar Mills. Cummings, whose first appearance came against France in 2019, partners Jonny Gray in the second row, while the back row of Jack Dempsey, Rory Darge and Matt Fagerson remains unchanged from previous outings.
Flyhalf Tom Jordan will start at number 10, with Ben White at scrumhalf as Scotland look to guide a largely settled side into their first match of the campaign. Sione Tuipulotu captains the team from inside centre and links up in midfield with Rory Hutchinson. An all-Glasgow Warriors back three features Kyle Steyn and Jamie Dobie on the wings, with Kyle Rowe at full-back. On the bench, hooker Gregor Hiddleston is in line for a potential Scotland debut, joining replacements Rory Sutherland, Zander Fagerson, Alex Samuel, Gregor Brown, George Horne, Fergus Burke and Darcy Graham.
