Argentina blocks child support debtors from World Cup

Argentina has launched a coordinated campaign to restrict World Cup access for parents who have failed to pay court-ordered child support. Authorities compiled a database of about 13,000 delinquent payers, mostly fathers, from Buenos Aires and several provinces, using the Public Registry of Child Support Debtors. This list has been sent to the United States Department of Homeland Security, with a request to deny visas or stadium entry to listed individuals seeking to attend 2026 FIFA World Cup matches in North America. Buenos Aires Mayor Jorge Macri publicly defended the measure as a consequence for non-compliance with child support obligations.
