SpaceX has held executive-level discussions with Charter Communications about a potential partnership to launch a direct-to-consumer mobile phone service in the United States, according to people familiar with the matter. The confidential talks, reported Friday, June 26, 2026, would leverage Charter’s extensive ground-based internet and Wi-Fi infrastructure to support traffic from SpaceX’s planned Starlink Mobile offering. The arrangement would mirror Charter’s existing Spectrum Mobile model, which combines its Wi-Fi network with leased cellular capacity. SpaceX, recently valued at more than $2 trillion after its IPO, views collaboration with an established broadband provider as a cost-effective way to compete with major wireless carriers.
