Texas flash floods trigger mass evacuations, rescues

Severe flash flooding in Lamar County, Texas, on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, prompted emergency evacuations and high-water rescues after more than five inches of rain fell in a short period. The downpours, following a week of persistent storms, caused rapid runoff that inundated RV parks, apartment complexes, single-family homes, and major roadways. In the town of Blossom, east of Paris, emergency crews evacuated residents from an RV park, an apartment complex, and nearby homes. Multiple motorists trapped in flooded streets were also rescued. Numerous county roads, Farm-to-Market routes, and U.S. highways were closed. Authorities report no serious injuries or fatalities so far.
