Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones this week urged cancellation of Ye's scheduled July 4 concert at the Alamodome, saying the city should not host an artist with a record of antisemitic comments in a city-funded facility on the nation’s 250th birthday. Her social media post framed the request as a stand against antisemitism. This week Bexar County leaders publicly denounced Ye's past remarks while city officials noted roughly 50,000 tickets already sold and the Alamodome's capacity near 60,000. Officials and local groups also said they cannot immediately cancel without risking First Amendment or contractual violations; legal review and stakeholder consultations are expected in the coming days.
