Denver Broncos linebacker Jonathon Cooper was excused from the team’s mandatory minicamp in Englewood, Colorado, on Tuesday following two recent arrests tied to domestic violence allegations. Head coach Sean Payton said Cooper, 28, was granted time to address personal matters and that the organization is in contact with the NFL and local authorities while gathering information. Cooper was first arrested June 4 in Douglas County on misdemeanor domestic violence charges, later expanded to include a felony second-degree assault by strangulation and an additional misdemeanor assault count. He was arrested again June 11 for alleged harassment and violating a protection order.
