OMAHA, Neb. — Gavin Gallaher’s two-run triple in the seventh inning gave North Carolina a 5-2 win over West Virginia on Sunday night, sending the Tar Heels to consecutive College World Series victories and putting them one win away from reaching the best-of-three finals next weekend. The Tar Heels (52-12-1) will be off until Wednesday and will face the winner of Tuesday’s elimination matchup between West Virginia and Troy; coach Scott Forbes said the team aims to play well Wednesday. The game included three unearned runs off Big 12 pitcher of the year Maxx Yehl and featured booster Eric Church cheering in a suite.
