Auburn — Jackson Koivun, the world No. 1 amateur and junior at Auburn University, announced Friday, June 12 that he will forgo his senior season and turn professional after the 126th U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills. He earned the Mark H. McCormack Medal for finishing 2025 as the top amateur and will make his pro debut at the John Deere Classic in early July. The announcement follows a season in which Koivun helped Auburn win another national championship and collected multiple national player-of-the-year honors; he previously secured a PGA TOUR card via PGA TOUR University Accelerated. Koivun will relinquish his spot at the 154th Open at Royal Birkdale and is reported to have signed with apparel brand Malbon as he prepares for the PGA TOUR schedule in July.
